About the Sunvibes Workshop

The workshop is a project started back in 2013 and usually includes world music events, and building classes. 

Current projects : 

Second Life

World music, chill hour, AfricaExhibit space and building workshop at Inspiration Island in Second Life : 

> Monday at 11amSLT - Chill hour 

> Thursday at 1pmSLT - World music hour

> AfricaExhibit Area - info on : African music, fabric patterns, languages, masks, pottery and more

> Workshop Area - a place with lots of useful info, textures, scripts, sample builds to help you build in SL

> Three sims in Opensim : Sunvibes , Shanti, Africa ( Virtual Worlds Zone grid )

Sunvibes has 5 different streams that explores different genres :

1. Sunvibes (world music) http://us2.ishout.net:8634

This stream will introduce you our favourite tunes that are often from Africa or India or beyond - this is our space to explore music often deeply rooted in the traditional sounds. You will hear different languages like Zulu, Afrikaans, Hungarian, Hindi, Tamil, Wolof, Spanish, French, Portuguese. Expect styles like desert blues, Mali Blues, reggae, maskandi, mbalax, Hungarian folk tunes, South African jazz, and much much more.  

2. AfroVibes - http://eu.ishout.net:8262

This stream is dedicated to the sounds of Africa - tunes from the West, East, and lots from Southern Africa too - like Tuku music from Zimbabwe, South African choir tradition, zulu guitar.

3. DesiVibes http://eu.ishout.net:8225

Vibes from India - some Bolly tunes but also many others - tune in to find out more. 

4. ChillVibes ( music to relax, meditate - take it slow ) http://us.ishout.net:8514

This stream is there for anyone that need some time to meditate or do some yoga, tai chi or just take a break and slow down, drink a cup of tea and enjoy. 

5. South African Jazz 

South African jazz originates from the townships of South Africa - a very unique style of jazz - tune in to listen to some of the tunes by Hugh Masekela, Jimmy Dludlu, Sipho Gumede, Miriam Makeba, and many others.
